Regatta Gear Official Supplier for Balboa Yacht Club’s CDM to CABO 2012 Yacht Race Set for March 30 – April 5, 2012

Regatta Gear is outfitting sailors in racing apparel for the Balboa Yacht Club’s 2012 Corona del Mar to Cabo San Lucas (CDM to CABO) International Yacht Race, set to run March 30 – April 5, 2012.

Regatta Gear is the Official Supplier of crew gear for this race.   Regatta made all the official CDM to CABO Race 2012 clothing now being sold at the Balboa Yacht Club.

The 2012 CDM to CABO Race is an invitational race with abundant pre- and post-race activities. The race will get underway off Newport Beach, Calif. and the course will run approximately 800 nautical miles (nm) to finish inCabo San Lucas,Mexico.

Approximately 20 yachts are entered in this year’s race.  Balboa Yacht Club hosts the race on even years. The winner of the 2010 race was Katana, owned by Dr. Laura Schlessinger. The 2008 overall winner Sabrina, owned by Chris Calkins, will be competing again in the 2012 race. Several world class yachts are entered in a quest to be the 2012 winner.

CDM to CABO Schedule of Events:

Thursday, March 29, 5:30 p.m. (17:30) – Mandatory Competitors Meeting at Balboa Yacht Club.

Thursday, March 29, 6:00 p.m. (18:30) – “Mount Gay Rum Send-off Party” at Balboa Yacht Club.  The Club invites participants, members and guests to enjoy a night of fun and festivities. Come meet the skippers and crews that have accepted the 2012 CDM to Cabo challenge.  Mount Gay Rum, produced by Mount Gay Distilleries Ltd. of Barbados in the West Indies, is the world’s oldest (ca. 1703) existing brand of rum.

Friday, March 30, 11:55 a.m. (11:55) – Warning signal and First Start for Friday classes.  The first boats will be starting from Newport Beach, Calif. harbor on their 800-mile journey to where the boats will finish off the Pueblo Bonito Pacifica Resort and Spa in beautiful Cabo San Lucas

Saturday, March 31, 11:55 a.m. (11:55) – Warning signal and Second Start for Saturday Classes. The larger boats will be starting on Saturday off Newport Beach, Calif.

Tuesday, April 3, 6:00 p.m. (18:00) – Balboa Yacht Club will be hosting a Happy Hour for volunteers and early finishers at the Baja Cantina located on the marina in Cabo san Lucas at the top of the IGY fuel dock.

Wednesday, April 4, 6:00 p.m. (18:00) – Balboa Yacht Club will be hosting a Happy Hour at Azul in the lobby of the race’s host hotel, Wyndham Cabo San Lucas Resort, Boulevard Marina.

Thursday, April 5, 6:00 p.m. (18:00) – Balboa Yacht Club will be hosting the Awards Ceremony at the Baja Cantina Beach located on Mendano Beach in front of the Cabo Villas Beach Resort and Spa Cabo San Lucas, BCS, Mexico.
